cnc year one, year two, year three mom network tag, logs tag Kanaya is a born midwife who defined her entire life by the task she was raised for, to revive her species fresh following the end of her planet, and oversee its future. It didn't work out. Since then she's worked desperately to justify her existence to herself, finding new ways to make herself useful to those around her. This has involved many things, from a primary income source, to violent undead protector, and sometimes just backfires on her when she turns out to be a brainwashed supervillain. But it can go kinder ways, too, as a mentor, or an advocate. Or, as luck would have it, a mother. She can be jaded, callous, impatient, and very argumentative. She's seen too much and lost too much, and been an imPort long enough that she's seen it all tried before and thinks you're probably wasting your time. Her trust is very hard to win, she's had it abused enough already and her generosity taken advantage of. She's not easy to get close to, but she's never believed anything worth having comes easily, either. But under that is still a good person. Someone caring, diligent, and dedicated, who will give her all and more for the benefit of others. She's just so tired of everything going badly, and afraid there's worse on the horizon she can't stop. With things at home resolved peacefully, she regrets being here at all. POWERS RAINBOW DRINKER Kanaya is a jadeblooded troll who awakened as a rainbow drinker upon her death. Rainbow drinkers being basically what they call vampires on Alternia, but it's a biological condition that appears only in jadebloods, and under rare circumstances. With it comes enhanced strength, insane speed, blood-fueled rapid regeneration, undead stamina, ability to stand on walls/ceilings, and bioluminesence. SPACEWEAVING Perceives threads in Space that connect to people, places, or things. Manipulating these threads magically enables her to open a dimensional bridge to the location at the end of the thread in question. Time required to reel in the portal depends on how much thread she needs to pull, distance between her and the target. INCONSPICUOUS FIELD When active, this field makes Kanaya not so much imperceptible, but unnoticeable. Anyone looking at her will simply skip right over her, as if her existence is so unremarkable that the mind doesn't register it. It isn't effective on anyone who's looking directly at her when she activates it, and psychic resistances can penetrate it. With time and practice, she may learn to extend it in a five foot radius around her, but at the start it will be limited only to her person. WEAKNESSES SUNSCREEN Being solar-powered, Kanaya requires sunlight to be at her best in both physical and mental wellness. Sunscreen interrupts that, and irritates her biology in a way consistent with an allergic reaction. MAJOR DEPRESSION, CODEPENDENCY & PTSD She is not very emotionally stable. While she may be physically hardy, her psychological state is generally precarious enough to be the easiest route to defeating her. She is also very psychically susceptible. FAILING THAT You know the rules with undead, remove the head or destroy the brain. Of course, vaporizing her always works, too. SKILLS FIGHTING Kanaya is trained in boxing and Jeet Kune Do, and is a formidable barehanded combatant even without her powers or weapons. She has a high pain threshold, and is far too stubborn to fall quickly or easily. CRAFTSWOMAN While best known for her work in fashion and textiles, Kanaya is also skilled in carpentry and woodcutting, metalsmithing, stonecarving, and general repair work. She works well with her hands and learns quickly: if it isn't a machine she can figure out how to make it, if it isn't complex she might be able to figure out how to fix it. If it involves hard labor, she won't hesitate to do it. MEDICAL AID Kanaya was a certified EMT prior to leaving the job for legal reasons, making her a trained first responder and skilled in stabilizing medical emergencies. She has considerable knowledge of Biology, especially reproductive systems (do not ask her about reproductive systems), both from Alternia and Earth. She knows more about frog genetics than anyone has any right to. Her surgical knowledge is minor and probably a little barbaric, be careful of it.
