Have you seen the shops in Maurtia Falls yet? Much better for the eyes, but dangerous to the pocketbook.

[ she scoffs and shakes her head. ]

Going to Maurtia Falls isn't going to space. I haven't heard of anyone receiving censure while traveling within the country.

Didn't want to push it for a bit, but a change of scenery would be nice.

They have the porters leading there, as well. If they didn't want us going there, they have a very odd way of communicating it.

Who knows what they want, but I'm down for it. I'll even pick up a souvenir for Mr. Cat.

[ she narrows her eyes a moment, who names a pet "mr. cat"? ]

[ almost as if on cue, there's a scratching at the door. kanaya shoots an intense look in its direction and claps her hands together loudly, the scratching stops. ]

[ Sadly, she still hasn't given him a proper name. It's been like over twenty comic years. ]

[ She turns her head to face the source of the noise. ]

[ kanaya just waves it off. ]

The cats aren't allowed in here. Don't worry about it.

[ they try to play with the thread and fray the hems of anything kanaya's working on. she is not a cat person. ]

[ She doesn't appear to mind, in fact, her eyes light up for a moment there. Cats. ]

Rose has ten.

[ it's an important thing to clarify. it is not a "we", and certainly not an "i". sure, kanaya may have inherited over half of them from nepeta and astral, but they are rose's. ]

[ There goes that light in an instant. She adores cats, but she's got her hands full with one. ]

... I can see where that may be an issue.

The thing about owning a home where the residents frequently checked out, extra-dimensionally, is that you're the one left with the pets afterward.

[ She glances back at the door, peeking through it was her X-ray vision. ]

Nobody else will take them?

[ fat orange gintendo has plopped down outside the door. he's given up scratching, but he will stand sentry until a way is provided for him. or someone picks him up and rubs his belly. if there are no belly rubs, he will lose interest and return to his post. ]

I don't see why anyone else would. They were cats owned by people we knew, and others who befriended them are no longer around, for the most part.

I'd offer to take one, but I'm actually not sure how mine would react.

Many of them were strays at first, so it took them some time to get used to one another. Then, when we moved in together, they had to stop thinking like rival gangs.
